Maile Carifa - Bernards

Maile started figure skating at age 5. Two years later she decided that hockey was much more fun. She learned her edges and crossovers, but found it more exciting to slip and slide around in full pads, slapping around a puck than doing twirls in tights and a dress. She played Mite through Girls U16 hockey at Essex Hunt Club. Maile has played for BSM since Freshman year and has enjoyed the co-ed hockey program and the fast pace of the game. She enjoys locker room time with the other girls on the team and being on the ice with the boys. Maile will be attending Wake Forest University, and although very excited, she is sad to not be playing hockey at school. She hopes to be able to lace up at Essex when home. Maile wishes the BSM program a great future and thanks the coaches for all their hard work, especially the last 2 years with the struggles through Covid.

Aidan Brown - Bernards

Aidan started skating at a young age, attending hockey skills sessions at Rock Ice on Saturday mornings, but did not start playing hockey until 5th grade. In 6th grade, he started playing travel hockey for the NJ Colonials and continued at the club level for the next 3 years. When he started High School, he played basketball instead of hockey. However, during the summer of Sophomore year, he began playing hockey again and found that he missed the sport. He joined the BSM hockey team his Junior year. And what a great season they had! Becoming the 2021 Charette Cup Champions!

Aidan has matured into a fine young man and a lot can be attributed to his time on the ice, the coaches that have helped develop his skills and the teammates and their families who have supported and encouraged him through the years.

Aidan will be attending the Carroll School of Management at Boston College in the Fall.

Chris DeRogatis - Somerville

Chris has been playing hockey on the Varsity team since his Freshman year. The 4 year journey has been an extremely fun one! Chris played Forward except for his few appearances as goalie. Winning the Charette Cup has by far been the most exceptional memory Chris has made. He also enjoyed playing with great teammates over the years. Chris thanks his coaches Manore and Spautz for teaching him the importance of hard work and responsibility. Chris hopes to attend college next year to study business and play golf.

Thank you BSM for the memories. Now let's get the dub!!!!

Aidan Gallagher - Somerville

Aidan started skating at Ardmaer Park in Raritan when he was 4, using hand-me-down skates from former BSM player Tim Sheets. The first year was more pushing around and diving on the ice than actual skating, but the love was born.

He started hockey with the Penguins at Rock Ice, progressing from learn to Skate through Pee-Wees, then moving to Bears, Rockets and Titans. He has enjoyed playing on BSM middle and high school teams since 6th grade, being volunteered for defense after raising his hand when asked, "Who can skate backwards?"

Aidan gives special thanks to Coach Spautz for giving him adequate ice time - a short shift every now and then would be nice! Also thanks to Coach Manore for always helping all the players on the team, whether on the bench during games or off-ice managing the player's schedules. And finally to all his teammates throughout the years who contributed to the team and community. Looking for a good run in the Charette Cup and State Playoffs this year! Unfortunately, Aidan did not get to play with his Freshman sister Abbey, who was injured in the first game, but looks forward to watching her on livestreams next year! And he says thanks to both his parents for the many rides to rinks and tournaments over the years and always showing support to him and the team.

Aidan plans to play U18 or Jr. Hockey next year with an eye towards college.
